The Classified Neuromarketing Lecture

Wouldn’t it be nice if you REALLY knew what somebody is thinking? Do they really like that new outfit you are wearing, and what about the new ad that is currently running on TV? Neuromarketing does this: it uses brain scans to finds out what people are really thinking. These data are being used to optimize many marketing related issues, from pricing strategies to the ads you see on TV. This combination between marketing and neuroscience is a new trend in the marketing landscape, and it won’t be long before we will all be experiencing the results of it… or researching it ourselves. On October 5th the only neuromarketing office in Europe, Neurensics, visited Nyenrode to share the secrets of the new marketing.

Walter Limpens of Neurensics gave an inspiring presentation about Neuromarketing at Nyenrode. Neuromarketing gives new insights in what people really think about e.g. new book covers, clothes or commercials. Neurensics uses MRI scans to look into peoples subconsions. People are not able to directly influence their subconsciousness, therefore this method gives an objective result on what people REALLY think of something. They show pictures and look at what parts of the brain are activated. The activated parts of the brain are analyzed and punt into a model with different factors such as trust, fear etc.

These factors can be used to predict if a new song will become a hit or how people really think of a commercial. Neuromarketing is new and upcoming in the marketing sector and could become a large influence in how marketing will be performed in the future.  The whole presentation was a success due to the new way of looking at marketing and how innovative and entrepreneurial Neurensics is in the field of Neuromarketing.

The event was organised by OCOA in cooperation with Nymas and attracted over 60 guests from Nyenrode, NCV, VCV and NBS. The OCOA would like to thank all these guests for attending the classified neuromarketing lecture, Walter Limpens for giving the presentation and the Nyenrode Business University for sponsoring the drinks after the lecture.
